Section 28.53 of the Australian Government Law Reform Commission outlines that privacy law requires organisations to collect personal information and requires them to delete or render non-identifiable that information after a set period of time or within specific circumstances. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the appropriate and safe steps are taken in the destruction of records that are no longer deemed necessary. This is to be done along with the Privacy and Confidentiality Management policy and procedure.
